Sarcoma Centers

Dr. Lor Randall: Sarcomas are quite rare and often quite deadly, and they require interdisciplinary cooperation in order to maximize treatment. It's not simply just removing the tumor, necessarily. It requires collaboration between radiation therapists, medical oncologist, pediatric oncologists, basic translational researchers, as well as surgeons. And there needs to be a culture of cooperation and familiarity with this very rare, deadly gamut of tumors. So the peer reviewed medical literature is replete with data showing that outcomes are optimized, patients are most likely to be cured, at centers of excellence or centers of expertise in sarcoma.
