Tips for the Newly Diagnosed

Dr. Richard Gorlick: I think critically, what's very helpful is trying to balance getting as much information as you need to be comfortable with going ahead with treatment and being comfortable with what you're doing. I think there are tremendous sources of information, and I think you need to be skeptical about what those sources of information contain. I think you have to maintain a balance between believing too much and believing too little. I think you have to go ahead and try to reach out and use whatever sources of information are easily accessible to you. I thknk you need to rely to some extent on what the doctors tell you. Ultimately you are going to need to trust the doctors in order to be able to go ahead with what you're doing. But at the same time, be comfortable with what you're doing.

I think there's a lot of little tips in terms of just managing day to day. I think having a notebook is very helpful. Things like taking it a day at a time help you get through the long treatment courses that are typically a part of them.
