A Periodical for the Sarcoma Community

Editorial - April 2013

Calling All Volunteers

None of the projects the Liddy Shriver Sarcoma Initiative has undertaken over the past ten years could have been done without hundreds of physicians, patients, caregivers and survivors giving freely of their time to help us. This assistance has come from people all over the world supporting our mantra, "Sarcoma Knows No Borders." Once again, we are reaching out to those who are willing to help. If you believe in our cause, the quality of our work, and our passion, please take a few moments to consider how you might join us this year.

A call to physicians and researchers

We rely on members of the medical community to help us support patients and advance research. Please:

  • Tell your patients about SarcomaHelp.org
  • Write or translate an ESUN article
  • Apply for a research grant
  • Subscribe to ESUN

A call to patients, caregivers and survivors

Here are a few ways that you can contribute to our efforts:

  • Share Your Journey: Your writing can reach thousands of people who are dealing with sarcomas. Whether you have been diagnosed or care about someone who has, we believe that your story can help others.
  • Publish Your Creative Expression: We welcome e-mailed submissions in the form of essays, poetry, photographs, and visual arts. Many of these submissions are highlighted throughout our website.
  • Share a Tribute: If you have lost a loved-one, please consider sharing a tribute that honors your loved-one and raises money for research in that person's memory.
  • Submit Your Photograph: Join more than 700 people in this our special gallery.
  • Share Your Knowledge and Understanding: Sarcoma advocates and support leaders have published invaluable ESUN articles that are shared with patients every day. If you would like to publish an article that will help and inform others, please contact us.
  • Join Team Sarcoma: Consider championing the cause of sarcoma awareness and research with Team Sarcoma.
  • Distribute Our Brochures: Help us to share these informative brochures at events, conferences, cancer centers and doctor's offices around the world.
  • Wear a Bracelet: Thousands of people around the world wear "Sarcoma Knows No Borders" bracelets as a sign of support and solidarity. The background color of the bracelet is a swirl of a pathology slide of a sarcoma patient. The donations made for bracelets are used to fund crucial sarcoma research.
  • Volunteer Your Time and Talents: If you have creative ideas that will help us better serve the sarcoma community, or if you would like to volunteer your time helping with our website and outreach, we would love to chat with you!
  • Help spread the word: Blog and tweet about us, and post information about us on your FB, LinkedIn and other social medial pages.

Please contact us if you would like to help!
