Mesenchymal
Chondrosarcoma
Mesenchymal chondrosarcoma
is a rare sarcoma. It is a
malignant type of
chondrosarcoma, or cancer of
cartilage. Approximately two thirds of
cases of mesenchymal chondrosarcoma occur in bone while the rest occur in places
outside of the bone—i.e., in extra-skeletal locations. Unlike other types of
malignant chondrosarcoma, which have a tendency to grow more slowly and rarely
develop metastases,
Mesenchymal
Chondrosarcoma is a
fast growing tumor that spreads more often. Dr. John M. Goldberg and Dr. Holcombe Grier
of the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute at Children’s Hospital in Boston,
Massachusetts have
written an in-depth article,
Mesenchymal
Chondrosarcoma,
for our Electronic Sarcoma Update Newsletter (ESUN).
Their article gives an extensive set of references to articles dealing
with this disease. We are grateful to them, both of who are extremely busy
physicians
and researchers, for finding the time to undertake this project. Click on the

rare bone cancer. It is open to those who have the disease and to
caregivers, family, or friends. It is also open to health
professionals interested in learning from those affected by this
