The "Our Initiatives" column provides an update on some of our ongoing projects.
The New Clinical Trials Subweb We've completely redone our coverage of clinical trials to make it much easier for you to locate candidate clinical trials. Please see this issue's Clinical Trails News column and visit the actual Clinical Trials subweb.
New Research Grants Announced The Liddy Shriver Sarcoma Initiative announced that it has awarded two new research studies. See Grant to fund study of tissue samples in conjunction with a Phase II Trial of Dasatinib in patients with advanced sarcoma and Grant to fund GIST Research. We anticipate announcing one or two more additional grants in the December issue of ESUN. There is also a call for research proposals in this issue of ESUN; see Research Proposals Sought.
The "Sarcoma Knows No Borders" Bracelet We have received such an incredible response to the "Sarcoma Knows No Borders" bracelets, that we thought we should mention them again. We have received requests from all over the world for them and have been told that the photo shown below does not do it justice.
The background color is a swirl of a pathology slide of a sarcoma patient. The bracelet is reversible. "Sarcoma Knows No Borders" is printed on one side and on the other side the word "sarcoma" is printed in 13 of the world's languages. We use the phrase "Sarcoma knows no borders" because sarcomas can occur anywhere in the body and they don't discriminate on age, gender, race or creed and they occur in countries all over the world. Each bracelet is individually packaged and comes with a brief "Sarcoma Facts" sheet. Our 7-year old granddaughter wears one as an ankle bracelet; she's quite the fashion plate. If you are interested in obtaining some of these bracelets, please send us a note by clicking here. You might also want to read about our "Sarcoma Knows No Borders" ribbon by clicking here.
Team Sarcoma 2007 Initiative We are in the process of planning the events that will take place during the Team Sarcoma 2007 Initiative. The tentative dates are July 14-22, 2007. So, mark your calendars now. We'll be announcing all of the details in the December issue of ESUN. Furthermore, we'll be announcing a new part of the Team Sarcoma Initiative that will take place in several cities (internationally) in June. If you are interested in helping us with the Team Sarcoma 2007 Initiative, please contact us soon.
Guest Book If you haven't read the entries in our Guest Book recently, you may want to do so (please click here). We also invite you to make an entry (please click here).
Music CD, The Circle, Benefits Sarcoma Research Singer songwriter Ron Martin is a multi-instrumentalist from North Carolina. He is sharing the proceeds from the sale of his CD, The Circle, with the Liddy Shriver Sarcoma Initiative to help fund sarcoma awareness and research. The CD makes a very nice holiday, birthday, anniversary or graduation gift. Click here to find out more details.
