Changes Made

For those of you who regularly or occasionally visit and use the various resources on our website, you know that the content of the website and the content of ESUN are integrally linked together (no pun intended). Listening to your feedback, we have made some changes in both. Here are some of the more obvious changes.

Clinical Trials

We have made a significant change in the way in which we are providing clinical trial information in ESUN and on our website. Because the Clinical Trial News column is so highly accessed, we have reduced the need for you to "search" back issues of ESUN to locate clinical study information. We have created three separate webpages where all of the clinical trial information that we have published to date has been collected into one of the following three categories:

bullet

Category 1: Clinical Trials Currently Accepting Eligible Patients

bullet

Category 2: Clinical Trials that have been Announced but are Not Yet Recruiting Patients

bullet

Category 3: Clinical Trials that are No Longer Recruiting Patients or that have been Suspended, Completed, Withdrawn, or Terminated

In each issue of ESUN, the Clinical Trial News column will include information on the clinical trials that have been added to these webpages since the last issue of ESUN. As we learn that the status of a trial has changed, it will be moved to the correct category. For example, when a trial in Category 2 has begun recruiting patients, we will move it to the webpage for Category 1 trials. When we learn that a trial has been completed or is otherwise no longer recruiting patients, we will move it to the Category 3 webpage.

We have implemented a Clinical Trials subweb where all of the clinical trial data that we have published are kept. You can access this data via the new "Clinical Trials" button you see in the left hand column of all of our webpages. Based on your recommendations, we have also included whatever "Registry Information" is associated with all of the clinical trials that are in our collection that are listed in the National Institute's of Health Clinical Trial database. Implementing the Clinical Trials subweb was a significant undertaking as we had to verify, update and add data to the over 150 clinical trials that we have online. Iin addition, work had to be done to implement and test the required website enhancements. We hope to make our Clinical Trials collection as comprehensive and as easy to use as possible. Please let us know of any clinical trials that we've missed in any of the three categories.

Searching our Website (and ESUN)

You can search our entire website or search for information on a particular page once you have it displayed in your browser or you can switch between these two methods. Based on a number of requests, we have created a Hints page where you can find hints about and example of searching our website. When you search our entire website, you are searching the entire collection of material that has been published in ESUN in the process.

Expanded Table of Contents

As per requests from readers, we have expanded the Table of Contents for the Odds & Ends, Our Initiatives, Research Corner, and Stories of Courage & Hope columns. Evidentially many readers want to get a "mini" overview of what is being covered in each column. We also intend to produce an annual index for ESUN.

One of the less obvious enhancements that we've made, but that is worth mentioning is that we have updated the Sarcoma Post-It ® Links webpages with additional entries that have been sent to us. You can read about this website by clicking here. An increasing number of people are finding this set of links useful.

Please feel free to send me any feedback about these changes or others that you'd like us to consider.
